Why choose a standard wheelbase?
Why choose an extended wheelbase?
Our extended wheelbase Dual-Cab conversions are our most popular option. The extended wheelbase provides the vehicle with greater vehicle stability, greater load carrying capability, a much improved towing experience, and extended tray or canopy space, making it perfect for touring, towing, commercial and recreational use. With pro’s comes con’s, being an extended vehicle, it will have a bigger turning circle and slightly worse ramp-over angles.
Why convert your cruiser into a Dual-Cab:
There are several reasons to do a Landcruiser Conversion, the forefront reasons however are, you take a very good wagon and transform it in to an incredibly comfortable, incredibly capable and incredibly reliable Dual-Cab Ute. Dual-Cab cruisers are a multi-purpose vehicle, reliable and not having to forfeit the big comfortable seats which still recline with our conversions as well as still having space for extra storage! One of the main sellers of the Landcruiser’s are their powerful and reliable engines, combining this with an extended wheelbase makes for an excellent towing vehicle. Having a converted Landcruiser offers the luxury of a high end wagon in a Dual-Cab Ute form.
Pre-Registration
vs
Post-Registration:
As an SSM, this provides us with the ability to complete your vehicle both pre first registration and post registration. Manufacturing your vehicle pre first registration, or the vehicle being “in service” will see you with greater benefits than manufacturing your vehicle post registration “in service vehicle”.
Pre first registration, or the vehicle being “in service” is a true 2nd stage of manufacture of brand new vehicle, this allows Creative Conversions to become the federally recognised manufacturer of the vehicle as such, vehicle ratings are all controlled by the manufacturer under federal laws and standards. This allows the vehicle to be registered in any state of Australia throughout its entire life without the need for engineering or approval, this is how we can provide higher GVM/GCM combinations. Completing the remanufacture prior to any post compliance accessories or additions to the vehicle, allows the 2nd stage manufacture process to be less complicated due to there being less variation in the process.
Whilst pre first registration is the ideal option, post-registration or “in service vehicles” is still possible to complete as many customers are second owners or were not aware of their options when the vehicle was first purchased. Once a vehicle is “in service”, which is determined once it has been registered for the 1st time, laws and standards around modifications are controlled by each of the states of Australia. There are some variances across states, the significant difference in how this is looked at is, once a vehicle is in service you are seen to be modifying the vehicle, not remanufacturing the vehicle. As such the available modifications are stricter and only the vehicle manufacturer is able to determine GCM capabilities of the vehicle, even though the same company may do the same work, it’s under different sets of compliance rules. Creative Conversions can do conversions on registered in service vehicles, however, can only comply in accordance with variant state regulations in which the vehicle must be engineered by an independent state approval person, this does allow for GVM increases in all states and GCM increases in some states. Depending on the nature, some post compliance accessories either require removal and refit whilst others require modification to allow for the reconfigured cabin and wheelbase.
